Creating Sacred Spaces at Home
At home, I have created a few sacred spaces that act as resting moments of peace in my often cluttered home. They typically exist on a window sill or on a tabletop. Sometimes they are a place to honor Deities, plants, crystals, and candles, or just sacred objects that remind me of our inner spirit and our inner nature.
Elements of Light
Anywhere sunlight shines through is an opportunity to honor and celebrate creation. So for me, windows are sacred portals to spirit. When the light shines through and casts onto anything, that glow is such beauty and it illuminates energy, igniting a remembrance of our interconnected universe.
Even on small tables where there is minimal light, I add a small light, sometimes a glowing crystal or just a lamp. The light brings a glow to the sacred atmosphere.
Elements of Earth
Crystals and plants are some of my favorite things to decorate my home with. I love their enlivening energy, and growth patterns. Just observing their beauty brings joy and delight to daily life. I have a free download on How to Work with Crystals.

Elements of Fire
I love candles too, but always use caution because they can be dangerous if left unattended near an open window or near sacred note papers. I have had my own experience with a house fire back in college. Fire is the spark of life, so its magic is to be well kept and wisely maintained. Candle magik can be freeing to let go of past limitations. Always keep water nearby. The elements complement each other.
Elements of Water
Water is another less conspicuous sacred space. Anytime we encounter water, it is an opportunity for a blessing. The shower can be a sacred place of cleansing and clearing stuck energy. A glass of activated water with the intention of love and well-being can pour health into your body, your pet’s body, or into a plant.

My body is a sacred space that I always have with me. So I honor my body. I also honor yours with respect and gratitude for your sacred mirror. What is your sacred space? Do you have a place of refuge in your home? Thank you for sharing this moment with us.
